In our Pre Prep room, we run a ratio of 1:11 with 22 children and 2 staff. We have a qualified teacher along with an assistant who holds her Diploma in Children's Services.
The teacher in the Pre-Prep Room has more than 12 years' experience and is a fully qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Registered with the Queensland College of Teachers, she has also previously mentored probationary teachers and has completed postgraduate studies in Learning Support for children with additional needs. She is also a qualified Early Childhood Education Trainer.
The Pre-Prep Room runs a government-approved and funded kindergarten program specially designed to prepare each child for their Prep year and is aligned with the Australian curriculum. Children will, therefore, be introduced to the skills and knowledge they need to become successful life-long learners. Throughout the year, they'll also work to develop specific outcomes outlined in the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG).
As with the EYLF, the QKLG provides a play-based environment
to help children learn. Every child learns in a different way and this program subsequently caters and embraces these differences, enabling children to experience success in their own unique way.
